The Cowpens Fire Department currently occupies a 10,000 square foot facility located at 144 Battleground Rd. in Cowpens. It is the departments third fire house since the department was organized in 1947. It is a state of the art facility constructed in 1989 and dedicated in 1990. It has three offices, a kitchen, a day room, a communications room, two bunk rooms, a training room, four restrooms with showers in two of them, and a game room. It is staffed Monday through Friday 8:00 am till 4:00 pm by three paid personnel. It is also home to some 25 volunteers. It has back up power provided to the entire station via a natural gas driven generator acquired through an Assistance To Firefighters Grant through FEMA and the Federal Government. This enables the department to be utilized as a shelter in cases of major power outages, storms, and other emergencies. It is the Town of Cowpens E.O.C. (Emergency Operations Center). Bay Area The Bay Area houses all of the departments apparatus. It is equipped with a Plymovent System for exhaust removal. It also has an Ice Machine, a Gear Washer/Extractor and Dryer, along with a Cascade System, and gear lockers for all personnel. Downstairs Day Room Kitchen Communications Room The Communications Room has mailboxes for each member, radios, maps, and a television. It can be used as the Town's E.O.C. in the event of a major incident. Main Hall The doors to the right of the photo are the Fire Chief and Assistant Chief's Office. Upstairs Training Room The Training Room seats approx. 30 personnel for training courses and meetings. Game Room Line Officer's Office The Line Officer's Office is shared by the Captain's and Lieutenant's of the department. It has all fire department records, training library, and computers etc. Bunk Rooms Both Bunk Rooms sleep up to four personnel and have personal lockers in them as well.
In the background is the fire departments first fire station. It was located directly across the street from the second station pictured below on South Church St.
This was the fire departments second Fire Station. It was located on South Church St. It remains there today as a storage facility for the Town Of Cowpens.
